In the night of 17th July the time had been coming. Hexe showed signs that this was the right moment for bringing the babies on world. Hexe had had hard labor pains, but only a small blister was to see, nothing more happened. So we informed promptly our vet, who came also immediately.
First examinations let it assume that the uterus was twisted. After further palpations the diagnosis was, that two babies wanted to come out at the same time and that they now were fixed at the beginning of the birth channel. However, no baby let itself be pushed back, in order to continue the birth in a normal way. The only alternative for the rescue of mother and kittens was the cesarean. We drove thus to practice. A last examination in the practice did not show any improvement of the situation. Thus the operation was prepared and accomplished. In this context we decided to neuter Hexe also at the same time.

The operation flowed smoothly and we rescued the lives of four babies. Mother and babies appeared to be stable. Meanwhile it was 2:00 o'clock of morning. We put the small ones to Karina and Hexe for waking up into the breeding cage. Nocturnal controls did not show any anomaly: Hexe was breathing evenly and calmly and she changed her position from time to time. Although Hexe was not right accessible on the next morning , there seemed to be no reason for anxiety because her respiration was calm and even. Also the small ones had survived the last hours without prejudice. So we took up our normal day work. Gisela looked a last time for Hexe, when she suddenly took a deep violently breath. Afterwards there was no more respiration and also no heart beat was noticeable. This was the moment in which our beloved Hexe abandoned us.

Despite the large mourning in our hearts we had to worry about Hexe's babies, because Karina, in conflict between the small ones and their own babies, was swamped with the situation. Unfortunately Willi Wacker, who had had some difficulties from the beginning, outlived his mother in spite of all efforts only for two days. Now we are fighting for the life of the other three dwarves. Dear thanks for Susanne Hartmann, who has published a marvelously site on her HP in memory for ours over all beloved Hexe. We regrettably are not yet able to do this in this moment. The pain is too deep. Fare well, beloved Hexe.

Despite these tragic circumstances we also will inform you during the next weeks over these babies by weekly new pictures:

fifteen weeks

Because Wizard will leave our home in some days, this is the last actualization.
We thank for the interest in our babies and wish you much fun by regarding the pictures.

2005-10-23

fourteen weeks

Today Warlock and Vincent moved out. Now there are only two left.

2005-10-15

thirteen weeks

Nothing new. They become ever more impudent. None - whether two or four-legged - is sure before them.

2005-10-08

twelve weeks

The two were completely enthusiastic from their trip into the garden. They were totally thrilled!

2005-10-01

eleven weeks

Soon the two also will left us. Warlock moves with Vincent and Wizard moves to Nuernberg.

2005-09-23

ten weeks

The two are in a good mood. At night the wild hunt goes right through our faces!

2005-09-19

nine weeks

This week there are no new news about the two. It's always the same - they eat, sleep and frolic!

2005-09-10

eight weeks

They eat from alone!!!! And they only are doing nonsense - thanks to their instructors of the V-litter!

2005-09-03

seven weeks

Because of technical problems unfortunately this week there are no new pictures. Ones of the "lovely" kitten killed the USB-cable of our camera . We hope that we will be able to place new pictures next week in the net.

2005-08-27

six weeks

The two develop magnificently - and with the feeding it also becomes slowly better!

2005-08-21

five weeks

At the moment everything is okay - up to the fact, that the little swines not yet want to eat by themselves!!!

2005-08-13

four weeks

At the 08-08 Little-Witchy went from us. We hoped, fought and lost nevertheless. Now she is together with her mother and her brother.
Wizard and Warlock are now playing with the large ones. Sometimes it seems to be quite wild. We try to teach them to eat from alone. But at the moment - bullshit! So we have to continue to feed them.
Good-bye night rest.

2005-08-06

three weeks

Our nerves are frayed! On Thursday Wichy got fever. For the moment she seems to be stable. But what will happen next?
Wizard and Warlock are fine. They take weight beautifully. At least one ray of hope!

2005-07-29

two weeks

Hurra!!! We are still alive!
Also the old lady Elissa was still adopted to wash the babies!

2005-07-23

one week

We rode the first week out. The small ones develop slowly, but constantly. The job-sharing works passably. Mostly it's so, that we carry the small ones to Karina. True to the motto: If the mountain does not come to Moses, Moses must go to the mountain.
But in the evening she carries the babies from one corner into the other one.

2005-07-20

three days

In consideration of this circumstances the three small ones are developing well. We try to do a job-sharing with Karina. Sometimes we are feeding the babies and sometimes they can drink at Karina. The same agreement we try to have with the cleaning. It does not work all the time, because she is fixed on her own babies very much.
Wizard starts to open his first eye.
We continue to fight. Because who fights, can lose; who does not fight, already lost!
